Cloud Adoption Survey Results Released

Together with Cloud.com and Zenoss, we co-sponsored a survey of over 500 IT professionals to determine the key IT objectives and inhibitors for cloud adoption. Unsurprisingly, the results show that there is an overwhelming amount of interest in cloud computing; 61% of organizations are either working on their cloud strategy or already have one approved. Another 20% have cloud implementations in place already and only 20% have no plans for cloud computing at this point. Fedora Now Available in BitNami Cloud Hosting!

BitNami Support for CloudWatch

Amazon announced today support for custom metrics in their CloudWatch service. This means that in addition to the current existing metrics, like CPU or Disk I/O, it is possible to monitor additional services. The new metrics can be used together with all the existing CloudWatch functionality. In particular it is possible to scale up and down based on application-level metrics such as the number of simultaneous connections or the internal load of the database. AWS CloudFormation and BitNami

Amazon has recently released AWS CloudFormation , a new service that helps you describe a ‘stack’ of cloud resources and bring them up as a single unit. A CloudFormation stack can include among other resources load balancers, databases, EBS volumes and of course EC2 instances. A stack definition is called a template and can contain configuration information to be passed to the various resources being provisioned.
