Thank you so much!

I just wanted to say thanks for all the brilliant work you’ve done to make a simple install for folks. It doesn’t pay the bills to say thanks, but we can never hear enough praise, either. I’ve been running a whole slew of mission critical services on a single physical box for a while now, and too scared to migrate them without putting plenty of time into it. Knowing how long each install would take, I realized a while ago that my best bet was to buy one or more beefy machines and set up virtual machines for each major service (FTP, file serving, plain old WWW, SVN, etc), then be able to load balance them by moving the VM to different hardware as needed. What good is BitNami in that situation? Well, it means that for me to set up a bunch of different sites is a snap. Rather than budgeting a day or two per VM, I can probably get the majority done in a couple of days, max. Most importantly, it’s given me an opportunity to try out different systems quickly (SVN+Redmine = a big win!) without becoming emotionally invested by the lengthy installation process. Now, if only there was a BitNami install for a nice LDAP with a web front end for centralized user management, I’d be in heaven. Thanks again! |
