BitNami is a spectacular idea. Well done! CMS and basic wikis are now covered. How about a little more diversity? Some suggestions: Fedora Commons – Fedora Commons provides sustainable technologies to create, manage, publish, share and preserve digital content as a basis for intellectual, organizational, scientific and cultural heritage by bringing two communities together. (Educational Community License) http://www.fedora-commons.org/ One or Zero – Free Version (or some other F/OSS Help Desk/Task Management solution)—OneOrZero is a powerful enterprise task management and help desk system used by companies and groups large and small to manage information and requests in their organization. (GPL) Alternatives: DoubleChocoLatte and OTRS Mindquarry DO – Mindquarry DO is an Open Source collaborative software platform for file sharing, task management, team collaboration and Wiki editing that is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. Mindquarry runs as a web application with an optional desktop client for Windows, Linux and Mac OS that allows for desktop synchronization and offline work. As a result, you are able to connect with team members and share information from wherever you are, effectively improving team-work and increasing productivity within your team. (MPL) Thanks for BitNami and for considering these suggestions. |

I second the nomination of Mindquarry. |

I’d like to nominate a Hylafax server stack. It would mesh really well with the upcoming Asterisk package. |

Hi everyone, Sorry for the delay. We’ve added the following to our catalog: http://bitnami.org/product/mindquarry People can vote for them now. We tend to give priority to the projects that have the highest votes. Thanks for you suggestions! |

I noticed that Coppermine Gallery was nominated. How about Gallery2? This is a great multiuser gallery with lots of features and is great software for setting up an image library. |

Hi Ripley, thanks for the suggestion. I agree with you and I’m glad to hear somebody asking for it. If you want you can vote for Gallery 2 here: http://bitnami.org/product/gallery2 cheers |

Hi , First of all , Thanks for the Bitnami stacks , which made me possible to evaluate the Redmine , Mantis , Trac & Tracks application without wasting further time for the same ( Initially wasted almost 2 weeks for searching & finding details for each of these installations) Thanks once again . I would like to suggest a stack for one more application It has a windows installer , works good for evaluation , but does not work on a existing installation of Tomcat , Hope to look forward the same on Bitnami Thanks & Regards |

Geoprocessing/Map Serving Stack: This would definitely add diversity to the Bitnami stack and might seem to appeal to a limited audience. However, location-based services and geoprocessing (thanks to the likes of Google, Yahoo, MS, and Oracle) are becoming increasingly important in mainstream applications. Consider the VM stack described here http://maps.co.mecklenburg.nc.us/ft/?p=261 This effectively creates a complete geoprocessing and map serving stack that would be a great boon to those of us who normally spend a long time creating these platforms (and for many who find it impossibly complex). A complete stack would consist of Postgres with the PostGIS plugin for data/geodata management and geoprocessing, an application server/web server (Apache plus PHP and or Tomcat/Glassfish), a map server (UMN Mapserver or Geoserver), a cache to reduce load such as Geowebcache and then a simple web app to demonstrate successful installation such as OpenLayers which is included with Geoserver |

We have only started supporting PostgreSQL, and we still have a lot of work to do. For now, we are concentrating on adding extensions to the runtimes (PHP, Python, Ruby) as well as increasing the number of available applications. We also plan on opening BitNami so others can contribute their extensions for other components such as PostgreSQL. For the time being you may want to take a look at Postgres Plus, which is a freely available version that supports PostGIS: http://www.enterprisedb.com/products/download.do With a little bit of tweaking you should be able to replace our version of Postgres with that one |
