Question about upgrading

Hello,
Quick (or maybe not so) question… How do you safely upgrade alfresco? Can you simply run the new version installer, or do you need to backup files before, or is the process completely manual?

Hi,

You have two options: to install the new Stack and restore the previous data in the new database or to upgrade the Alfresco files in the installed Stack. The process is manual but I recommend you to create a backup before starting the upgrade process:

$ /ctlscript.sh stop
$ tar -cvf alfresco-backup.tar

ive tried to upgrade but I’m getting the following error…

[root@vmware ~]# ./bitnami-alfresco-3.0-2-linux-installer.bin
There has been an error. A debug file has been created at:

Please attach it to any bug report.
The application will exit now.
