Hi Aktion, We have been looking into this, taking a detailed look at the installer logic. We have concluded that the most likely cause is a timing error related to MySQL, we plan to release a new version before the end of the week that will hopefully fix this. |
Hi Aktion, We have just released a new version that should fix this issue, please give it a try. Cheers |
Trying now. let you know on success. Update: |
Hi Aktion, Please answer the following questions to help us track the problem:
1. Intel Pentium 4 (D) 3 Ghz (2 cpu), 1 Gb Ram, WinXP SP2, Geforce 7900 GTX, Creative Labs X-Fi, 2 HDDs |

We have released a beta version with the MySQL timers increased. You can find it at http://bitnami.org/stack/mantis By the way, are you using a firewall? Could it be possible that you denied in the first installation the communication to the MySQL server? We haven’t been able to reproduce this issue, and the timers I have changed were high enough in my opinion. Maybe that could be the problem, would you mind to check it out please? Cheers |
I downloaded latest one – the same. |
Any luck disabling the firewall? |
Sorry been on holidays. |
Oh my :) I will create a new installer with some debugging options enabled and release it to www.bitnami.org as soon as possible. Would you mind to try it and post here the contents of the file ‘postresult.html’, present in the installation folder? |
You can find the latest version at http://bitnami.org/stack/mantis |
downloading now. Upd. List of postresult.html The requested URL could not be retrieved
I think I finally know what’s happening :), but I have to figure out the best approach to solve this issue. We’ll release a new version that should fix this as soon as possible, stay tuned! |
Aktion, please edit the file
and add
below
It seems that your machine is not able to translate your hostname to an IP address, which is really strange indeed. Those changes should make it possible to install the stack, good luck! |
I have “127.0.0.1 localhost” inside hosts file. Update. The same errors =( |
Yes, what you need to add is the other line
Only following folders are inside “C:\Program Files\BitNami Mantis Stack\apps\mantis\htdocs\” api |
The ‘admin’ folder is deleted by the installer after the installation, following the recommended guidelines on installing Mantis. Can I have a look into your ‘hosts’ file please? |
127.0.0.1 localhost
Are the contents of ‘postresult.html’ after installing still the same than before editing the ‘hosts’ file? I’m not able to reproduce this issue in any computer I’ve tried to |
Yep =( While trying to retrieve the URL: http://aktion:8080/mantis/admin/install.php The following error was encountered: Unable to determine IP address from host name for aktion Name Error: The domain name does not exist. |

Funny thing – i just installed Redmine using Ruby stack – everything work perfectly! |
We should add emoticons to the forums so that there is some way to show you how puzzled I am :) Could you try to install another PHP stack? Not the Dokuwiki Stack, though, as it doesn’t install a MySQL server. Drupal, Joomla!, Wordpress or Mediawiki would be fine. Thx |
But this will destroy my Redmine config right? |
No, the stacks are all independent. The needed configuration is in the installation folder, no registry tweaking involved :) The only problem that I think could happen would be if you install the new stack with the RubyStack services off. That way, both stacks will use the same ports, so you can only run one at a time. If you install the new stack with the RubyStack services running, you will be prompted to choose different ports for the servers, as the default ones will be already taken. Cheers |

Hi, I’m bumping this thread to check if you’re using a proxy server. We have been told of problems with them when installing MediaWiki as well. Thanks |
Dear Antonia, I am facing same problem as the one faced by Aktion. Let me please know, if you are having any solution. Best Regards, |
Hi syed, I’m afraid any of the BitNami developers is able to reproduce this issue. As you point out, it works okay on Windows Vista, and also on most WinXP installations, so it seems to be related to the operating system configuration. If possible, please provide us with the Apache log files and information about the Mantis installation (install dir, ports, etc) Cheers |
Dear Antonio, Actually I tried 6 times in Windows XP SP3 and it failed all the times with the same problem. Now I can try once again (7th time for you), Please confirm. Thanks & Best Regards, |
