Apache Thrift & Hadoop

It would be nice to have a stack that had Hadoop(http://hadoop.apache.org/index.html) and Thrift(http://incubator.apache.org/thrift/). Perhaps a variation of the Ruby or DJango stacks?

I have configed an AMI with Thrift so I can run thruDb(http://code.google.com/p/thrudb/) but it was a PITA. Be nice if a stack was out there.

From what I had been reading there was talk of the Hadoop group moving Thrift into their Hbase area.
