Hi,

Just wanted to provide some feedback/suggestions for the next release of the trac stack:

Overall, good job on setting up the one-click install business. While trac is a straightforward product to use, initial configuration, especially on Windows, has traditionally been time consuming.

Potential future product operation:

It would be great if there was a small GUI launchpad where the trac/svn administrator could one-click setup an unlimited number of trac projects and associated subversion repositories. Although the trac stack installer makes this happens once, there seems
to be no way to repeat that operation, and furthermore, it would be preferrable if the trac stack created a separate subversion repository for each new trac project. Ideally, I would like to have two directories, C:\svn-repos and C:\trac-projects, each containing one subdirectory for each respective trac project and associated subversion repository.

Also, as the default trac stack configuration uses svnserve as the subversion server, I would suggest the trac stack come preset with the trac account manager plugin, and the options set for trac to get its username/password info from the svnserver default password file.
That way, the administrator would only have to adjust the svn password file to add/remove users from both trac/subversion projects.

I have built a similar open-source product (except with a more in-depth web interface) that runs on Ubuntu. http://sourceforge.net/projects/obpubuntu/

hope some of this is helpful,

cheers,

Dave

Dave,

Thank you for taking the time to provide such great feedback! We’re pretty slammed right now, but we will certainly keep it in mind for future updates.

Thanks again!

I would suggest that BitNami offer an option to connect to an existing repository during the install.

Jumping through hoops to get BitNami Trac connected to an existing repo isn’t hard – but it’s not documented or necessarily obvious.
