Topic: eZ Publish / Editing tools for creating and modifying templates in eZ publish

Hello geekartiste,

We find a number of professions standardizing on Eclipse IDE for use with eZ Publish. I say stick with Eclipse. It’s cross platform, stable, well maintained with amazing support all around.

There are also tools available for it, several in fact. Here are some related links, information, software and discussions.

Topic: eZ Publish / Request: Control.app in eZ Publish Stack (osx.x86 installer)

Hello Everyone,

We have been doing more testing with the most recently release eZ Publish BitNami Stack for MacOS X (X86)

We installed both the ezpublishstack and the mampstack + ezpublish-module for comparison.

It seems that for the less educated users are regarding shell scripts used to start the stack (apache/mysql) would be better off installing the mampstack and ezpublish-module instead of the ezpublishstack because it includes a very useful GUI Control App (‘Control’) which makes starting the stack (apache/mysql) much simpler.

We wonder if it would be possible to include this very helpful and useful macos application in the osx.×86 installer of the ezpublishstack as well, so that users who instead install simply the ezpublishstack directly instead of the mampstack + ezpublish-module (using the osx.×86 installer (at least, any os with gui installers)) can quickly control the map stack with a gui application.

Respectfully,
Brookins Consulting

Topic: eZ Publish / Question: Is eZ Components installed in BitNami by default?

It has been a while since I’ve last installed BitNami on a new machine.

I seem to remember having to install the required (for normal use within ezpublish 4.0, [0,1]) pear channel contents of ezcomponents myself with the Bitnami php pear installation in order to use the eZ Publish installation properly.

This seemed confusing to me at the time since eZ Publish requires eZ Components be installed more often even specific versions per eZ Publish release. I thought, ahh something they missed and went on configuring it to work properly myself.

Leaving me still with a haunting question … Is eZ Components installed by default, out of the box via pear, within the default apache / php / pear software installed with BitNami by default? 2

If Yes; Could you please document which version is installed per release and how it is configured?

If No; Why not install all the required software to make functional use of eZ Publish out of the box?

Also if No; Have you documented completing this part of the required software installation in your readme installation instructions? We think documenting within the README that ezcomponents is also required and show a command example of how to install it or link to the installation instructions to properly explain to people that this software must all so be installed in order to use the Bitnami installation of eZ Publish in any development situation.

eZ Publish and eZ Components installed together make a great (or at least proper working) combination.

Thank you for your continued support. Apologies if my statements are in error or incorrect.

Respectfully,
Brookins Consulting

Topic: eZ Publish / Update BitNami eZ Publish Stack to 4.1

beltran,

Thank you for your prompt replies, attitude, understanding and response.

We are very excited for the now greatly updated BitNami Installer for eZ Publish (4.1.3-0)

This truly represents a major positive step forward for BitNami users of eZ Publish!

We have taken a moment to add additional information about BitNami 1
into the eZ Publish Community Wiki, eZpedia : Bitnami
to promote BitNami use and education in the eZ Publish Community.

Thank you for your continued support.

Cheers,
Brookins Consulting

Topic: eZ Publish / Update BitNami eZ Publish Stack to 4.1

Thank you for BitNami, I really have enjoyed using BitNami’s eZ Publish Stack.

Loads of people find it the perfect solution
for a large number of users interested in eZ Publish
(among other solutions) looking to test eZ Publish
themselves, hands on, for the first time.

I think it would serve new users better if the BitNami
eZ Publish Stack was updated to distribute instead
of version 4.0.3 (nice but not a great release)
include version 4.1.3 [0] which is includes hundreds
of improvements, bug fixes, new features and stability
not available in version 4.0.3.

Considering the above we ask for an eZ Publish 4.1 Stack :)
