Topic: eZ Publish / Installer fails to Access mySQL Database Thanks, beltran, for the reply. However, the source of the problem was an operator headspace misalignment. When I installed mySQL it would accept my typical pattern of keystrokes. So Michael |

Topic: eZ Publish / Installer fails to Access mySQL Database Thanks for the tips, but I logged in as same user (only account on the machine) and I’ve made no password changes (I keep a log). When repeated attempts failed, I did enable root (ubuntu 9.10) and ran the same command as root with the same result. I did define non-standard ports for both Apache and mySQL. Could that be the problem? |

Topic: eZ Publish / Editing tools for creating and modifying templates in eZ publish Great reply. From what I’ve seen of Aptana (an Eclipse derivative), the IDE is nicely done. I’ll check it out once I get a testing server running. Thanks. |

Topic: eZ Publish / Installer fails to Access mySQL Database OS: Ubuntu 9.10 Initiated the installer from the command line with: sudo ./bitnami-ezpublish-4.1.3-1-module-linux-installer.bin eZ publish installer errors out with: Please introduce a valid password to connect to the MySQL server. My Sugar installation works, as does phpmyadmin. Any ideas? Michael |

Topic: MAMPStack / AppleScript to start/stop MAMPStack I really appreciate Joshua Preston’s contribution of the applescript. It works like a charm on my system (OS X 10.4.11, BitNami eZ publish stack). I read with regret that I could have gotten a GUI control panel if I’d installed the MAMP stack and then installed eZ publish as a module. But … I’m only a geek when compared to the average graphic designer so what I got is working so I’ll stay with what I got. That said, I found a cool utility to add all kinds of stuff to the OS X contextual menu, including the Start/Stop servers scripts, above: OnMyCommand. Install was clean and there’s a library of hundreds of user contributed commands. Even includes a GUI editor and online tutorials to get you started. The New Empty File Tutorial will show you how to create a basic command. Substituting the command part of Joshua’s script (the part between the quotes) for the example Terminal command and saving puts a start and stop command in Finder’s right|control click context sensitive menu. Enjoy! |

Topic: eZ Publish / Editing tools for creating and modifying templates in eZ publish Has anyone experience working with an open source editor with eZ publish on Mac OS X. I’ve only dinked around in the past with HTML and have used whatever was available. I’ve tried Kompozer and Bluefish and neither seems very solidly under development (correct me if I’m wrong). I have an old copy of Dreamweaver MX2004, but would really like something more up to date. Though I’m not a programmer or developer, most recently I’ve been using Aptana, an Eclipse-based IDE to edit HTML and CSS. Are there any modules, plug-ins, code snippet libraries, etc. to extend either of these tools (or another tool altogether) that make it easy for someone who only occasionally puts together a web page create eZ templates? I rely heavily on code completion and prefer WYSIWYG/M type tools. Clean XHTML code is a must. Suggestions for commercial tools are welcome as well. I’ve looked at TextMate and if Dreamweaver CS4 is the cat’s meow, I’ll spring for it. One tool that I just bumped into is Sandvox Pro, but I’m a little leery that it might not be robust enough and/or trample the code. Thanks. I’m really looking forward to diving in to eZ publish! |
