Topic: General / Installing multiple apps that share stacks? Hi, this is what I am looking for too. I just installed Joomla 1.5, and it is great to have it locally for testing. Thanks! But seeing …/apps/joomla also made me think that another of the apps could just as easily be added to the apps directory? For my part, I would love to have Joomla 1.0.15 right next to Joomla 1.5 so that I can still work on some legacy extensions. Are you saying it is not possible at all to have more than one app in the same app directory at the moment? Ed, did you have any success? Am I to understand that if I now download another stacked app and install it I will have all the apache and php stuff duplicated with two different bitnami folders each containing the full stack and containing only one app each? So how does this work? Do I access same IP address but have to append different port numbers to each new app during installation of a full new stack? Ideally I would like to end up with this I guess: I guess I will find out when I go to install the next stack; it’ll probably tell me another app is already bound to that port, right? Antonio, what are you working on? An installer from which you can choose the apps to be installed? Or, the simple ability to have more than one app in a stack in the first place? |

Topic: General / Install joopla on internet? How? You don’t need stacks on most web hosting account unless you have literally no server software on it. Just go to www.joomla.org. Download the software and upload to your server. Access the site (or directory where you installed Joomla) in your browser and the install script will automatically come up and walk you through it. Stacks is totally unecessary for the web because most servers already have all these layers installed: PHP, MySQL, etc. etc. (the only part you get from Joomla, and what you need on the web server is basically what is in the directory “htdocs”. But get it right from Joomla which has loads of forum help specifically for it). Better yet, a lot of hosting accounts come with CPanel admin which often has Fantastico Script Panel. This installs Joomla, Drupal and loads of other systems for you. Don’t know about AOL Hometown (I would recommend something like siteground.com). I have installed and run Joomla on about 25 sites. No problem. Reason I came here for stacks is I now want it on my own computer to test and try out extensions, etc. I like running it locally and if I get a set-up I really like, I can always export the tables and import them to my web database via PHPMyAdmin. And copy the relevant extension files to the web as well. |

Topic: Stacks suggestions / New Suggestions I noticed that Coppermine Gallery was nominated. How about Gallery2? This is a great multiuser gallery with lots of features and is great software for setting up an image library. |
